AUXILIUM LEGALIS – COMPETE TO HELP, 15thJuly-31stOctober, 2018

“The women who don’t have the money and who don’t have the constitution and who don’t have the confidence, and who don’t have the images in the media must now have a sense of self-worth enough to break the silence that’s rooted in the shame of assault, that’s rooted in the stigma of assault. Let’s make India a better place to live in for women”

The Indian National Bar Association continues to work in their quest to build an India, which is inclusive of the identity of modern Indian women. We seek to construct a country which is friendly towards women. With this idea, 2017 was the most active year at INBA, where our student volunteers worked tirelessly in order to survey about the ground realities of sexual harassment of women at workplaces. The statistics of women harassment cases were unbelievably steep and it was shocking to know that over 68% victims simply do not report their harassments due to the fear of consequences at workplaces.

INBA after finding such grave truth in the heart of Indian reality thought of making some more awareness. INBA knew something more has to be done. Thus, INBA decided in launching a Legal Aid Competition. The Competition is a first of its Kind in India. The Competition is named as “Auxilium Legalis” this is the first edition of the competition. The word is a Latin term which means “Legal Aid”. The competition calls forward all the Legal Institutions of India to join their hand and Compete to help the Sexually Harassed people. The competition will be a tool to spread Awareness against Sexual Harassment and further collect data on sexual Harassment all over India. The competition shall act as a fuel in the burning fire against Sexual Harassment.

The competition is really simple and innovative. The Competition is spread over four months i.e. July-Oct, 2018. The competing colleges have to conduct innovative awareness program against Sexual Harassment a total number of 6 drives has to be conducted by 07th October. After which they have to send a report and a presentation of their work by 31st October, which will be reviewed as per the marking criteria. There shall be announcements of winner in November 2nd week and further, the Winner shall be awarded INR 10,000 in cash and Kind, the Runner up shall be awarded INR 7000 in cash and kind. Lastly, the second Runner Up shall be awarded INR 5000 in cash and kind. A participation certificate shall be provided to every participating university Legal Aid Center/ Cell/ Individual Group.

INBA believes that this event is going to set a new light in India and shall be an important step in making the 2nd edition of Sexual Harassment survey a great success. INBA looks forward in participation of all law colleges in India. INBA also look forward in continuing the competition for more years to come in a bigger and better format and though it makes India a better place to live in.
